AI Use Disclosure

1.1This disclosure is issued by STARECOM ("we", "us"), the operator of starecom.net and the provider of the services described on it.

1.2"AI" in this document means machine-learning models and large language models, whether built by us, licensed from a provider, or run as a service. We use them in the services we deliver and, to a limited extent, in producing this website. This document says where, under what limits, and what happens to your data.

1.3We publish it because a client, a regulator or a payment provider is entitled to know which decisions a system took and which a person took — and because "AI-powered" without that detail is a marketing phrase, not a disclosure.

2.1The table sets out, per service area, what AI does and which decisions are reserved for a named person. It is the same list published at /ai.

2.2In every area, AI proposes and a person decides on anything with commercial, legal, financial or safety consequences: payments and payouts, regulatory filings, prices, contractual terms, customer-facing commitments, account actions and fraud determinations. No such action is taken by a system alone.

3.1Every automated action in a system we build or operate is logged with what it did, the inputs it relied on, the model or rule that produced it, and who was notified. Logs are retained for at least 90 days, or longer where the engagement requires it.

3.2Any automated action can be reversed by an authorised person, and every system carries a documented way to switch its automation off without stopping the operation.

3.3Thresholds and limits — when a model may act alone and when it must escalate — are set by the client's own operators during design, written into the solution design, and reviewed on the operating cadence.

3.4We measure and report model performance to you against your own outcomes, and we tell you when a model is wrong. We do not guarantee any level of accuracy, and nothing here is a promise of business results.

4.1Models are run against your data inside infrastructure you own or control, or inside ours under the terms of your engagement. Your data is not used to train models for anyone else, and is not shared with a model provider except to process it for you, under contractual terms that prohibit the provider from retaining it or training on it.

4.2Where a third-party model provider is used, it is named in your solution design and in the processor list in the Privacy Policy where personal data is involved. We do not send personal data to any provider without a lawful basis and a contract.

4.3We do not use AI to make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects on individuals without meaningful human involvement, as required by the GDPR.

5.1AI may draft copy, translations, documents and code for you or for this site. Everything drafted is reviewed by a person before it is published, filed or delivered, and the person is accountable for it.

5.2AI is never used to generate reviews, testimonials, case studies, figures, images presented as photographs of real events, or any other form of evidence. Where a deliverable was substantially AI-drafted, we say so when we hand it over.

5.3Photographs on this site are licensed stock photographs, credited in the site's image credits; they are not AI-generated and do not depict our staff, clients or premises.

6.1We will not build or operate AI systems for the purposes listed in the Acceptable Use policy, nor systems intended to manipulate, deceive or profile people unlawfully, to evade sanctions or screening, to generate fraudulent documents, or to create fabricated proof of any kind.
